The Heritage Society is a museum complex across three blocks in Downtown Houston. We are located at 1100 Bagby Street, Houston, TX 77002. We are near City Hall and the Houston Public Library. If you need further assistance with directions, please call us at 713-655-1912.

HOURS
The Heritage Society is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday - Saturday. In July, we are open Tuesday - Saturday.

PARKING
Limited free parking is available in The Heritage Society's parking lot behind the Kellum-Noble House on 212 Dallas Street, Houston, TX 77002. You may enter the parking lot from Allen Parkway inbound or from the intersection of Clay and Bagby/West Dallas. The Heritage Society’s parking lot is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday - Saturday.

Additional parking is available at the Heritage Clay Street Garage for a fee.

SAM HOUSTON PARK

Sam Houston Park is located at 1000 Bagby Street and is open to the public. It is under the supervision of the Houston Parks and Rec Department. Hours of operation are Sunrise to Sunset. For more information and history about Sam Houston Park, please click HERE.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How long should I plan to spend during a visit to The Heritage Society?
    Plan to stay for about two hours if you tour the historic buildings.

  • Can I tour the historic buildings on my own?
    The only way to see the inside of the historic buildings is on a docent-guided tour but general information about the buildings is available through our free cell phone tours.

  • Can I tour the park and gardens only?
    Yes. Sam Houston Park is a public park and you may walk around the grounds at your leisure. The park is open from dawn to dusk.

  • What can my children do at The Heritage Society?
    The Heritage Society offers a variety of family activities throughout the year. Please check our Calendar of Events for upcoming programs. On a daily basis, children may visit the Duncan Store, where they can play with toys popular in the 19th century, tour Old Place, an 1823 pioneer cabin, or see the Baker Family Playhouse, a children's playhouse from the 1890s.

  • Where do I park and how much does it cost?
    Visitors may park for free in The Heritage Society surface parking lot that is located behind the Kellum-Noble House. You may enter the parking lot from inbound Allen Parkway or from the Bagby St./Clay St. intersection.

  • Where can I eat?
    There are a number of restaurants and cafeterias within walking distance of The Heritage Society.

  • Is there a gift shop?
    The Heritage Society has a small gift shop located in the Museum Gallery.

  • How can I access your library and archives?
    The library and archives are available by appointment only. Please call 713-655-1912 for more information.

  • Are there any items that I am prohibited from bringing on my visit to The Heritage Society?
    Food, drinks, strollers, backpacks, and large bags are not allowed in the historic buildings. These items must be left in the museum gallery while you are out on tour.
