Join Juneteenth Houston for a special flag raising ceremony of the Texas Juneteenth Flag at noon, on Saturday, June 20. Free to the public. This is a new flag made by a Houston artist. We will be taking a large group photo in front of Reverend Jackie Yates‘s House. Reverend Jack Yates was one of the founders of Emancipation Park and was a community leader who provided an educational institution so Blacks could learn trades and work after being freed. His descendants will be present at the flag raising. Red punch and tea cakes will be served in celebration of the Jubilee. #free #thingstodoinhouston #HoustonHistory #Juneteenth
