Above this angel's head is a gilded circle set with stylized flowers. This golden halo is used to indicate a holy and sacred person. The use of them is not confined to Christian art, but maybe also found in the art of Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam.
