1841 Mallard-A New Map of Texas
1841 Mallard-A New Map of Texas
This map of Texas was made during the Republic era with competing boundaries illustrated in different colors. It shows Texas as small in size as possible. The book in which the map was published describes Texas as “a country filled with habitual liars, drunkards, blasphemers and slanderers, sanguinary gamesters and cold blooded assassins.” The author did not much like Stephen F. Austin, nor did he enjoy his six month visit to Texas.
