Volunteer
Opportunities
As a member of The Heritage Society, we invite you
to experience
Houston
's vibrant history by volunteering your time with us. There are a variety
of volunteer opportunities at the museum.

Museum
Guides
Museum Guides are the ambassadors of The Heritage Society. They welcome
and direct museum visitors and provide information on both permanent and
changing exhibitions. Guides are asked to work a three hour shift at
least once a month. Individuals who wish to work on weekends are
especially needed.
For Museum Guide Information.
Tour Guides
As a Tour Guide, you will share the history of the structures in Sam
Houston Park with visitors from around the world by guiding daily tours.
Training prepares you to discuss Houston and Texas history as well as
the decorative arts and lifestyles represented by the structures. Tour
Guides work a minimum of two weekdays or one weekend shift per month.
This rewarding program allows you to increase your knowledge while
developing new friendships.

Present
Outreach Programs
This group of
volunteers functions as the Society’s Speakers Bureau. Members provide
narrated slide presentations with easy to follow prepared scripts.
Outreach volunteers can also choose to present historic traveling trunk
