The Heritage Society is located in Sam Houston Park in downtown Houston. Sam Houston Park is the location of numerous events throughout the year that are sponsored by other organizations. Check the list below for events that involve street closures around the park.

Requested Day(s) and Date(s) for Street Function: Thursday, January 15, 2015, through Sunday, January 18, 2015.

Requested Times for Street Function: 12:01 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015.

Requested Times for Street Closures: Avenida de las Americas between Polk and Lamar at all times (finish line construction), Lamar between Avenida de las Americas and LaBranch at all times (finish line construction), and all other streets as set forth below, for the 5K race on Saturday, January 17, 2015, and for the marathon and half marathon on Sunday, January 18, 2015. The date, day of the week, and beginning and ending times of the proposed function are:

Finish Line Construction -Finish Line Structure Thursday, January 15, 2015, 12:01 a.m. through Sunday, January 18, 2015 (all hours): Northbound side of Avenida de las Americas between Polk and Lamar (exclusive of the Polk intersection), and Lamar from Avenida de las Americas to LaBranch (exclusive of the LaBranch intersection). 5K Start Line, Discovery Green & Security Perimeter Construction Friday, January 16, 2015, 7 a.m. through Saturday, January 17, 2015, 10:30 a.m.: the single blocks of McKinney/Walker between Avenida de las Americas and Crawford. Medical Emergency Access & Security Perimeter Construction Friday, January 16, 2015, 7 a.m. through Sunday, January 18, 2015, 11:59 p.m.: one lane of Dallas, on the north side of the street (the lane adjacent to the median), from Avenida de las Americas to approximately 130 feet west of the intersection at Crawford. The closure will end east of the Embassy Suites, and will not block any portion of the building frontage or valet area at any time.

Start Line Construction -Start Line Structure
Friday, January 16, 2015, 7 p.m. to Sunday, January 18, 2015 at noon: San Jacinto from Franklin to Preston and Congress from San Jacinto to Caroline (exclusive of the Caroline intersection) shall close and remain closed for the marathon and half marathon start line structure construction.

Finish Line Construction -Finish Line Fencing
Saturday, January 17, 2015, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Lamar between Main and LaBranch (inclusive of the LaBranch intersection and exclusive of the Main intersection). Fencing shall be installed along the curbs in two block segments, with rolling closures under HPD supervision. As install is completed, streets will be reopened to regular vehicular traffic until full closure commences as part of the race course on Sunday morning.

5K Event Closures -Race Day Participant Ingress & Services
Saturday, January 17, 2015, 5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: Avenida de las Americas between Rusk and Lamar (exclusive of the Rusk intersection and inclusive of the Lamar intersection), and the single block of McKinney/Walker from Crawford to LaBranch (exclusive of the LaBranch intersection).

Start Line Construction -Fencing
Saturday, January 17, 2015, 7:00 a.m. to Sunday, January 18, 2015 at noon: Additionally, (a) Congress between Austin and Fannin, (b) Caroline from Franklin to Preston (c) San Jacinto from Franklin to Preston and (d) Fannin from Franklin to Preston shall close and remain closed for the marathon and half marathon start line area construction. Fencing along (a) Congress from Main to Crawford (b)Austin from Congress to Texas and (c) LaBranch from Congress to Texas shall be erected in two- to three-block segments during these times with rolling closures under HPD supervision. As install is completed, streets will be reopened to regular vehicular traffic until full closure commences as part of the Start Line on Sunday morning. All streets listed above comprising the start area shall be fully closed to traffic commencing at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday and shall reopen upon final removal of all structures at noon (approximately).

Marathon & Half Marathon Event Closures -Race Day Participant Ingress & Services
Sunday, January 19, 2014, all hours: Avenida de las Americas between Rusk and Lamar (exclusive of the Rusk intersection and inclusive of the Lamar intersection), plus the two blocks of McKinney/Walker between Avenida de las Americas and LaBranch. The streets or portions of streets to be utilized by the function are:

5K Event Closures -Race Course
Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.: The course consists of McKinney/Walker from Avenida de las Americas to Caroline (actual start on McKinney near Crawford), Caroline to Francis, Francis to Austin, Austin to Lamar, and Lamar to the finish at Lamar and Crawford.

Marathon & Half Marathon Event Closures -Race Course
Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on a rolling schedule: All other streets listed below for the marathon and half marathon are closed on a rolling schedule between 6:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. under HPD's guidance. The marathon course consists of Congress, Smith, Franklin, Preston, Washington, Heights/Waugh (southbound side only), West Gray, Inwood, Kirby (northbound side only from Inwood to San Felipe and southbound side only thereafter), Bissonnet, Mandell (southbound side only), Sunset, Rice Blvd., Greenbriar, University Blvd., Weslayan (both sides until Bissonnet, after Bissonnet on northbound side only), Westpark (including a short out-and-back segment west of its intersection with the southbound Loop 610 feeder coming from Post Oak Blvd.), Loop 610 feeder southbound,  Post Oak Blvd. (northbound side only), San Felipe (westbound side only), Tanglewood Blvd. (northbound side only), Chimney Rock (northbound side only until Woodway, after Woodway on southbound lanes only), Memorial Dr. (westbound side only until Loop 610, then eastbound side only), Shepherd, Allen Parkway, Dallas, Bagby, Lamar and Avenida de las Americas. The half marathon course follows the marathon course until Mandell, where it continues east on Bissonnet to Montrose, south to Main, north to Bissonnet, west to Montrose, north to Allen Parkway (westbound side) before rejoining the marathon course on Lamar.
